My name is Shelley Malcolm.
I am a Certified Nutrition Specialist® and Menopause Coach with an MS in Nutrition Science & Integrative Health. I practice integrative nutrition, which considers the whole person and life’s stressors to get at the root cause of your health concerns. I believe in slow, client-centered, sustainable change to reveal your optimal self.
My Wellness Journey
I was a competitive gymnast for most of my adolescent life. The desire to be thin and perform at the highest level was intense. Plagued with mood swings, injuries, and a continuously changing body, I rarely felt comfortable in my skin. I constantly compared myself to others and strived for perfection. I lived by false beliefs on how and what my body needed to survive, let alone thrive. I have tried many fad diets as an adult, from eliminating grains, dairy, and legumes to low carb, low-fat, low-calorie, and anti-inflammatory regimens. I suffered chronic pain in my joints and developed adult-onset asthma and countless sinus infections during this time. The weight would come off and come back soon after the diet. The pain in my joints, inability to breathe, and negative thoughts about my body remained.
My wellness journey led me to pursue a master’s degree in nutrition science and integrative health at the Maryland University of Integrative Health. While I consider myself a work in progress, my training has helped me peel away the layers of self-doubt and criticism while also breaking the cycle of guilt and shame towards my body, driven primarily by diet culture. My studies have freed me to find my unique path towards optimal health and longevity.
I want to do the same for you. I can’t wait to hear your story and create a personalized plan that helps you exceed your health and wellness goals.
